“Where Can I Run” is the product of anxiety and despair brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, continued racism in this country, and by the people who don’t believe that either of these things are a problem. After 6 months of virtually no music-making, the chorus came to me in a dream, and inspired me to start creating again. I wrote, recorded, and produced this song entirely in my home, which is a first-time accomplishment for me. I hope that this is the first of many self-produced projects, and that this very personal song will touch, and, perhaps, even change hearts. If you are experiencing this same anxiety and despair, please know that you are not alone.

Any and all money received for this track will be donated to the ACLU. Thank you for your support!

"Where Can I Run"

Where can I run to?
Where can I run to?
Be strong when I don’t want to
Where can I run to?
Where can I run?

It’s a struggle to get out of bed
When I feel trapped inside my head
My dreams no longer bring me joy
When I can’t sleep through all the noise

A sickness has been going ‘round
I don’t feel safe in my hometown
Can’t pretend that everything is cool
My nightmares are coming true

You’re out here like you respect me
When all you try to do is correct me
You don’t know how all this affects me
Your rhetoric won’t protect me

I thought you were someone I could trust
But your beliefs are too dangerous
There is no room for me
Now it’s time that I break free
